In Frankfurt there are clubs and discotheques of every kind. This pages focuses on clubs with a dancefloor.
Frankfurt Clubbing FAQs:
How old are people going to clubs? The legal age to enter clubs is 18. Still in some places you might get admission although you are slightly younger. Large clubs like the A5 (Darmstadt) or the Europalce have a crowed aged between 18 and 40. I would guess the average age of club visitors is between 18 to 25.
How about underage drinking? It’s hard to commit underage drinking in Germany! Drinking beer is legal if you are 16 or older, drinking liquer as soon as you are 18. So don’t worry about Xs on your hand.
Is there a dresscode I have to comply with? In clubs marked “chic” in our disco review you’ll have to comply with a dresscode. In clubs marked “robust” don’t dare to dress up.
Are doorman choosy? Sometimes they are. Although you might be dressed appropriate access might be dinied to you. Sometimes clubs only will let you in if they know you. Don’t be frustrated if you are turned down, spend your bugs on another club.
At what time should I show up? Generally I would say between 11 PM and 1 AM . In places where techno or house is played 1 AM might be better. Clubs usually close between 3 AM and 6 AM. Small clubs usually close earlier and large or techno clubs later. Don’t forget :-) there are always exceptions
Which are the most popular clubs if I want to meet americans? The black-sounds in Hanau focuses on americans. But you’ll also find many people from the states at the Funkadelic in Frankfurt or at the Catwalk in Darmstadt.
How can I get to all those clubs? Depends..if you are looking for a club in Frankfurt it’s fairly simple. You’ll be able to get there be foot, by taxi or subway. On your way back there are special buses at weekend nights which will take you back to your hotel. If you are looking for a club in Darmstadt, Aschaffenburg or Wiesbaden it’s hard to get there by transit and a taxi is rather expensive (Darmstadt-Frankfurt is about 50 Euros). Perhaps you should consider takeing a taxi to the rapid transit station and wait for the first train (at about 5 o’clock in the morning, sometimes earlier.) If you are in Frankfurt for only a short time you better stick to clubs in Frankfurt.
